VTX R9 290 pros and cons.

Not overly keen tbh, I dare not take the risk as I don't think any of my parts would be covered if a leak or damage were to occur.

I was trashing my VTX 7950 for almost 2 years. Card seen at lest 3 hours of Furmark on max overclock ect

NOTHING working like a dream

I had VTX 6950 unlocked to 6970 same story !!!! best card i had.

And if thee ware any VTX 290X on start i would have one to !!!

VTX aren't great when it comes to warranty. OCUK didn't want to know when I had issues with a VTX 6870 back in the day. Geographically they are based in the far east and writing to them to get help was very hard. Get a better brand name who have better customer service.

I would have thought the support would be with OCUK, not the manufacturer.

The heat issue has me worried, not something I want to buy if it's got heat issues. I'll look into another aftermarket brand, thanks for the answers guys.

Broomstick hopefully was referring to the first link, the reference card which runs hot
your second link with the dual fans that card runs cool.

Yeah was a Tongue-in-cheek comment Deardree.

OP def go with a non ref cooler on the 290 cards. Monster GPU's that are much nicer when running cool and quiet.
