VTX3D 5870 - BSODs/vertical stripe hangs

A few weeks before Xmas OCUK did a really good deal on these cards, especially as it came with a dual fan cooler on it (think they labelled them up as OCUK Value).

Since installing, I've had nothing but trouble with it. For a while, I was getting some interesting system hangs with blue vertical stripes and now it seems to have moved on to hanging in selected games with the occasional BSOD, whilst others seem to run OK.

The card isn't overclocked and ATi overdrive is turned off. I've seen some threads say that a newer card bios might fix the issue, but I'm not particularly keen on doing anything to the card that might invalidate the warranty/any possible RMA.

Any suggestions for me or do you think I've got a duff card?

what drivers are you using, as this was a common thing at release but I think a driver release sorted it out

Well I started out with the Catalyst 10.12 just before Xmas and I installed the 11.1 release from a few days ago.

The 11.1 really did me no favours so I've gone back to the 10.12 to see if they're any better.

you may want to test your system overclock for stability then as it was somewhere around 10.2 drivers it got fixed, has been a none issue for quite some time I think, also have you got the latest bios for your mother board

I reset the CPU speed to stock and it still didn't play :(

There's 1 new beta bios out for my board - suppose I could give it ago.
