I'm not one for asking people to give, but I know that many of you are aware of and have given this project your support. It is unfortunately looking more and more likely that she will be grounded forever.

One million pounds is needed within the next week to keep Vulcan XH558 flying. I am sure any support you can give will be appreciated.

I was speaking the one of the chasps from this lot at Pistonheads show as they took a stand. It does indeed look bleak which is a real shame as is the fact we have no EE Lightnings flying in the UK either. All we need is the govement to divert .1% of their next bank loan and all would be sorted.

I saw a vulcan taking off (from a base somewhere around Chippenham/Swindon I can't remember exactly where) it was a magnificent sight. We really should have some kinda heritage fund for these things.

I saw the Vulcan loads of times over the years but I remember an airshow at RAF Sealand outside Chester best of all. Small show for the RAF guys and their families and the Vulcan was a star giving it full beans over not much more than a playing field.

I followed this in the past and got really annoyed at the lack of funding, but to be honest the amount of money needed is just huge :o I can't help but think it would be better spent elsewhere.

What is it some cold war bomber that's been restored?
And in the words of the Canadians 'Would you buy a second hand sub from these guys?' :D

One of the greatest British planes made ever.

I REALLY REALLY want to see another flight, and would like to take my parents too.

I can only donate about £50 I'm afraid.

Has the group ever had any lottery funding ?

Better to give it to this that some ethinic, disabled, lesbian, drama group that wants to get their mitts on our money.

So are they going to be looking for a million a month?. If so maybe it's just best to not waste any more cash and just let it go..

Why not write a flight sim, install monitors and use at as a flight sim anyone can have a go off, sure it cost you less than a mill to have control surfaces attches to the cockpit.

They have already spent £6 million on restoration, estimated annual running costs for the Vulcan are about £1.6m, I think it's time to keep it on the ground.

That would be such a shame... its one of the rare cases where I think there should be gov funding... watching one take off is just immense.

When I was 5 they used to fly over our house daily.

However sad it is, there are much pressing issues at hand!

I saw one at Lowestoft air show last year. It was an awesome sight, but I think it's going to be hard to find £1.6m a year, every year, if that's what's need to keep it flying. Especially at the moment.

I really, really wanted to see her fly. I was denied by weather last year and would be gutted if there wasn't another opportunity, but I don't see a way out of this and agree with Zefan that in the 'bigger picture' there are far more needy causes.

Great vid of the Vulcan in flight.

I find it ridiculous that you have to press so many buttons and flick so many switches to get a plane airbourne.

It's like getting into a car;
Spark plugs ON
Fuel pump PUMPING
Air filter FILTERING

Why not just have one button? This could be simply labelled "fly" or "go".
