Hey guys,

A new job means I'm going to be doing a fair amount of miles, and all out of my own pocket. I need something relatively boring and frugal but comfortable and not too ugly (I want to love the superb but just can't) , and having considered lots of different things, the Passat CC has caught my eye as a potential option.

I know the BMW warranty is super simple. Pay monthly to keep warranty indefinitely, under 60k miles is cheap and awesome, under 100k miles is expensive and awesome, over 100k miles = dont bother, is it as simple on a VW?

What are the warranty options on a car like the passat CC if i buy privately and want to stick a decent warranty on? It'll most probably be a 2009-2010 2.0 TDI 140 or 170bhp with GT pack (adjustable dampers) and DSG, so don't particularly fancy going without a warranty as I'm aware that the DSG boxes are a ticking time bomb.

Any input is appreciated, the VW website I haven't found terribly helpful.

Tom.

Forget adjustable dampers under any kind of insurance backed warranty, even official ones, as it's very hard to argue that a damper reaching the end of its life isn't a wearing replaceable part. This is why I avoided F10's with Adaptive Drive.

you can buy a lexus IS diesel, then stick a warranty on it for £800 for two years.
The car has to be under 10 years or under 140k though.
