I stopped at work, looked down and a white plastic thing had fallen out of the drivers foot well, looks like it could have been something that goes behind the pedals or something, It didnt effect anything on the car, it all worked as normal.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I put it in my bag as I was going to have a look when I get home, and lo and behold I managed to lose it, its either still in work or at home somewhere and Im having trouble locating it, I have no idea what its called, all I know is, its plastic, its white and its about 4-5inches long by about 1.5inches.

Anyone have any ideas on what its called and what it does?

Could be that thing that causes the clutch to fail on these

Complete guess though

I say this because I remember seeing something about a plastic part behind the clutch that fails

Found it!

Will post a pic now as I still have no idea where it goes, only that I know it come from my drivers side footwell somewhere by the pedals

Here is this pic, anyone know what this is for?

:p

Better ring the insurance company in advance.

Im going to have a snoop around tomorrow, im sure i'll find somewhere for it to go.

Doesn't look like it belongs to the clutch pedal. Mine shattered and though there was off-white plastic it weren't that shaped.

Looks like perhaps it holds trim/the engine on.

See told you lol( I was close enough) exact same thing happened to someone I know except there pedal fell to the floor also

lol, its nothing major, just been confirmed on UKMKIV's "Its to hold the little plastic panel in above the pedals"

My wheel wont fall off, my engine wont fall out, my car wont blow up :)

Yep i know that clip, i stops the plastic trim under the dash from moving... nothing much to worrie about but it can lead to the plastic coming loose and damaging things i.e. brake light switch etc...

or could get wedged under a pedal.. best be sure to get another or make sure the trim doesn't bash around.

It's not the clutch plastic bit (I, too, had a snapped clutch pedal and plethora of plastic crap in my footwell lol).

Probably as above, piece of trim. My cruise control doesn't work properly anymore since the nice chap refitted a new clutch pedal and plastic bits and the trim is all loose above the pedals.. probably to do with that/brake light switch! I hear they're easily broken.

Good Lord! Given the number of so called motoring "experts" in this forum, I'm actually shocked no one has a firm answer.

It's simply a clip which holds a piece of trim in place, normally the section of vertical trim above your pedals. Virtually every car has at least one, especially from this era of motor car.

hi guys this is a clip that holds the plastic trim above the pedals in place i hope this helps but it probably will not because you found the answer yourself and now everyone wants to offer an opinion so there you go thnx lol + 1 posts lol
