Hi all

Anyone an expert on fixing window problems (rear) on a Mk6 or 7 (2013). VW golf ? Auto.

The passenger side rear (on the right ) has failed and the window is not going up or down . It sounds like electric mechanim inside is making a noise but there sounds like a crunching noise. My first thoughts was has a bit of glass broken off or something and is causing the mechanism not to work ? She has a kid so I doubt she uses the window much .

If we were able to take the doorcard off how likely would it be to gain access to the issue? Or is it a complete faff to remove.

Here is the video..would say this is what this is ?. You can hear the crunching, does it sound like there is broken glass at the bottom.? Or is this just window regulator that you can swap after removing the first door card ? Is there another panel to remove before the first panel is removed ?.

I'll have a look on YouTube thanks

I have seen some YouTube videos of people doing this from the outside..but looks like an older golf model

Another video shows someone doing it from.the inside but some.commemts stating they ended up breaking the glass during procedure. It sounds like you have to not let the glass drop

Just spoke guy who owns garage by me and where I get my car serviced he said approx 2 hours labour and they charge £50ph and confirmed common issue. Plus part which I assume is £40?

Is it worth going to get this by them or is this a super easy job with low risk of glass shattering everywhere?

I think its going to be a decision taken by them go down the garage route at he moment, i have spoken with my local garage who i trust and he said he would normally charge the £50 labour (2 hours approx to sort) and we just need the part, at the moment i am trying to find a decent reputible part manufacturer for this window regulator on the drivers side rear (its a Mk7 Golf TDI 2013 model) there are many different manufacturers of the part, ranging from £20 to £40, to £50 and eurocarparts list one as £127 which is quite over the top of what i was looking to pay

Anyone know which would be a decent shout to go for ? if i can source it myself then it maybe cheaper than the garage buying it and adding a markup + vat etc, they are always ok with me taking my own parts to fit on my BMW when i go if i dont do it myself.

She just wants it sorted as she has a kid in the back and the window keeps dropping, she does a lot of mway travelling,

As i dont get home till its dark and im working the next few weekends its difficult for me to find the time at the moment, i may have been able to in 2 weeks or so but i dont think its going to be able to wait

I dont mind helping find the part though and putting it through the garage i go to, i also dont want the faff of me having to learn and potentially end up breaking something if i dont get it right
