Hi

Ive got a very strange problem with my 2002 Golf GT TDi 150bhp there is a rattling/griding noise when i go round a left hand corner at speed or on full lock in a car park.

I have had the following looked at and changed but the sound still persists.

New CV joint and drive shaft on the drivers side
New wheel bearing on the drivers side
A few of the bushes
Fitted new suspension (SPAX) all round (New top mounts)
Downgraded to 17" alloys as thought it could be rubbing
New ABS sensor as old one was loose

I have had a few garages look at it but still no one can give me an idea what it is. The only thing left is to replace the hub.

If anyone has any idea's please let me know

Thanks

Chris

Hi

oweneades - I have had them looked at and doesn't seem to be any play.

Matt82 - Not really, just tends to do it more at speed than when going round corners slowly or on full lock.

That car has had more cv joints and driveshafts than most. The passenger side was done only about 5000 miles ago and the drivers side was done less than 2000miles. Doesn't seem to be the problem

There is a little bit of play in the passenger side steering rack would that have something to do with it?

Thanks

Chris

do you know what cvs went on there? (were they good quality items) or were they just the boots?

have you had it up in the air to see if there is anything that is making contact under the arches?

that would be making other noises too. they can die if theyvebeen low on oil, but you get other signs first like them popping out of 5th for fun

Hi

No they were fully replaced and the drivers side had propper VW parts so don't think its the CV joints.

Its really starting to bug me as ive pretty much run out of idea's
