No doubt this issue has been raised before.
Why does the Scirocco R not have AWD?
Why is the Golf R considerably more expensive?
I'm guessing it's something to do with the fact VW want the Golf to be their flagship R car? If this is the case isn't it a bit ridiculous, I can imagine a large segment of buyers who would choose alternatives to the Scirocco R in fear that 270bhp is too much for the front wheels.
Asides from price, the only thing that seems to divide the S3 and the Golf R is the fact the S3 looks like it's about 7 years old and has had some modern bits glued on. So unless you share that view I don't see why anyone would pay substantially more for the Golf.
In the same way why is the new RS3 5-door. Again, is that something to do with the fact that Audi assume anyone looking for a 3-door RS3 will automatically choose the TT-RS? Again this strikes me as being a ridiculous assumption.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
