VX Rearended - Maybe written off

Unlucky - wrong place, wrong time

At least it's completely obvious who's at fault, he was apologetic and has insurance, here's to a quick claim.

It would have to be the Cayman S for me

You don't get a choice - they get the vehicle closest to yours. For Muncher, it will likely be an Elise S.

If they go OTT with it the courts can, and do, refuse to rule that the third parties insurer pay for the hire.

Ahh

Was Munchers a turbo? If so it's got to be as quick as an Exige and a lot faster than a Elise?

EDIT: I suppose price is taken into account as well as performance and therefore he probably wouldn't be eligable

£10,000 in car hire fees!!!! are you kidding?!

I understand the bill for the Polo I had through Helphire a few years back was ~£5,000 for 1 month of hire. Helphire and similar organisations need to make decent profits to cover the expense of claiming the costs back from the 3rd party or their insurers.

I was in shock more than anything when it happened to me. A real "WTF just happened" moment as I wasn't expecting it at all.

I hope you get it sorted quickly, Muncher :).

Was it a case of the zafira but paying attention, or that you braked a lot harder than his car could?

He broke so much harder he'd been sat stationary for a while :)

From the sounds of it the Zafira just misjudged the stopping distance for the conditions and couldn't stop quick enough.

No wonder our insurance is so much these days, another 2 weeks of hire and they could have bought you that Polo!

You can hire from Avis as a private customer for less than that!

Call their insurance company and mention helphire and I am sure they will do whatever they can do get a similar car,
leave these "accident managment" groups out of it, as they will charge insurance companies huge admin fees, hire fees etc, making us all pay in the end :/.

Whilst I can see why you would want to not be driving around in a Ford Ka whilst your *insert sports car* is being fixed up but DAMN. Makes a whiplash claim look like small change to the insurers :o

I think the natural choice will be the Exige as the Elise S is a fair bit down on power compared to mine so isn't replacing my car with anything like for like. The point is as it wasn't my fault, I shouldn't have to drive around in a "lesser" car while it is sorted. I'll be speaking to them tomorrow so should have some indication of what to expect.

I don't think it was anything to do with the brakes, I could understand that if I really stood on them in the dry but it was a fairly leasurely stop and the car behind obviously thought I was going to go straight round.

The other car, not a Zafira as I thought.
