VX2025WM just about to stump up near £300 for this monitor I still have some doubt about the quality I am expecting tho!

Does anyone know if any 'real' shops sell this monitor so I can get a live demo? doesn't have to be this exactmonitor but one that uses the same panel and will offer similar results - (if posting other shops isn't allowed on these forums then PM me - I wil lstill buy on OC regardless)

Does anyone have any pics of this monitor playing DivX/Xvid movies?

Also can it be mounted onto a wall?

And I am choosing it voer the Dell - any reason not to? :)

i have one and its a very nice monitor...colours on it are just perfect as good as ive seen on any LCD. It doesnt have 1:1 pixel mapping but I have never failed yet to get widescreen mode working in any game! Hence...not really required much IMO. Its good for games and also good for movies. Viewing angles are excellent. Im not sure if it can be wall mounted..never looked.

I'm also on the verge of getting on of these monitors. What do you mean by 1:1 pixel mapping? I play old games quite a bit - i.e. things that run in 640x480, would I have any particular problems running them on this monitor?

1:1 pixel mapping means if you run a lower resolution, like 800*600, it will be displayed using the middle 800*600 pixels on your screen, so not stretched at all and with black borders all around.

It's very unlikely you would need it for movies, not if they are being played by your PC anyway. You only really need it for games that don't support widescreen. Even games that don't support widescreen, you'd be better off with 'aspect stretch' than 1:1, since 1:1 could give you a very small picture. I don't know whether the VX2025 has an aspect stretch mode though. Aspect stretch would stretch the picture but keep the aspect ratio, giving you side borders on a 4:3 image.

Some video cards can do the 1:1 and aspect stretch modes when it's not available on your monitor.

well I'm on the verge of going for a new monitor and I have always been a fan of the viewsonics and this is just a stunning monitor a mate of mine has one of the older 19" TFT's and it is simply stunning. I was tempted bu the DELL 20.1" or the Belinea 22" but this seems to be the one that has just blown me away. I'm sure that OC have this setup in the store or maybe the 19" model.

Just out of interest does this monitor come with a DVI cable as I don't fancy stumping up the extra money for that as well.

Comes with a DVI cable.

I have one and its great! But a Dell maybe a better choice as-

Uses a S-IPS panel.

Has all the inputs you need (Composite)

Has height adjustable stand

And great Dell warranty.

Xmas monitor

Hi

The wife is buying me an LCD monitor for Xmas and so my budget is about £200-£250. I'd like a 20" screen as I've been uses my 17" CRT for ages. If there was a large benefit I could also chip in £150 to take the total budget up to approx £350.

I was going to get the Philips 200W6CS 20" as this got a product of the year award in a computer mag but having viewed some screens at a shop there were others there which looked better.

I'll be using the monitor for some work (mainly Word/Excel), photo editing and gaming.

Thanks for any help as I know absolutely nothing about LCDs.

Cheers
S

Add my two-pennies worth,

It's a fantastic monitor, my first one that was a wide-screen. Colours are very vibrant, picture crystal clear and all in all looks brilliant.

My 'only' complaint, which is unfortunately a reason for me selling it and going for the 2407WFP is the lack of any additional inputs as it only has VGA and DVI.

Other than that, it's absolutely brilliant and worth every penny.

well just got the viewsonic vx2025wm and have to say for the price tag its just the best. If your not to fussed about the extras the DELL 2007 gives you I can assure you won't be disapointed with this monitor.

Certainly plan on getting a second one at some stage.
