I don't know what I have done to deserve such screwed up luck, but I am not liking this one bit.

Let me tell you the events that have taken place up until now, short and sweet (BITTER  ).

Morning. Wake up have breakfast, start computer. It starts up fine, desktop comes everything loads up nicely. Click on a song, Media player loads up. Comp freezes. No response, no noise nothing.

I restart. Exactly the same thing happens but this time it just randomly locks up when I move the mouse a bit after everything is loaded up.

I restart. Again the same thing, I was going to try to run system restore but it locks up before I get to it.

I restart, and try installing Vista on it. It installed fine bubut when it came to the screen where it says windows is preparing to start up for the first, it doesn't go anyway.

I restart. Same thing happens. So by now I reckon maybe its my harddrive that screwed up, so I open the comp up, unplug the raptor, and tried installing it on the Seagate 500GB. It installed faster I think, and even went past the first startup message when installation was complete, but then all I saw was my cursor in the middle of a black screen. Again no response, no movements, nothing.

Reset CMOS but it still doesnt work. Motherboard diagnostics show 'FF' which supposedly mean. I unplug my 2 DVD drives and change the SATA port for the Seagate, but still nothing. Infact now its even worse, Just after the microsoft windows thing comes, it just restarts for no reason. I dont even get to see the cursor anymore. In bootup diagnostics the keyboard doesn't work either, but in the BIOS it does.

So there you have it, the events that have taken place from 10:00 to 13:00.

P.S The only 'change' to the system was just a software update that installed before the computer shut down last night. There were no problems last night either.

Is it a new build? what are the specs? best I can suggest is rip it down to the bare essentials and start swapping stuff out, (assuming you can get your hands on some other parts easily), and try and work out whats wrong. sorry, just telling you what you already know but it does sound like a hardware problem.

Everything is 2 weeks old, so it's all pretty damn new. Bare essentials well that would mean only taking stuff like the fan controller out, because apart from that I have no printer scanners etc connected, and also I already stripped away a HDD and both optical drives. I am just so lost and depressed  :( :o

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz (1066FSB)

Motherboard: DFI Lanparty UT ICFX3200T2R/G RD600 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2

Memory: CZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel ATI Crossfire Series DDR2 (OCZ2A8002GK)

GPU: Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) *I WILL EXPLAIN WHY*

HDD: Western Digital Raptor X 150GB WD1500AHFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache

HDD 2: Seagate 500GB

PSU: Seasonic M12 Modular 700W

Optical drives: Two Samsung 18x18 Writemasters

ok fair enough, its unlikey to be the fan controller but you could try it. Yeh I know recently took me best part of a month to work out the RAM was dodge in one of my comps, nearly chucked the bloody thing out the window!

OK I fixed it :D

Here is the solution if anyone else gets the same problem. Open up the case, blow on the components a bit in an attempt to get rid of some dust. Swap some SATA cables around. Leave it disconnected for like 10 minutes or so. In this time pray that it will somehow magically start to work again.

Finally, turn on your computer and it should be working.

Worked with me thats for sure :p

The problem went as randomly as it cam...so weird :S

I find that the SATA cable connection on my hard drive is a bit dodgy so if i have taken the side off my case for any reason to move stuff around i turn back on again and it will 'squeak' at me when loading stuff.

After turning off, securing the connection on the HD and turning on it is fine. Can be a solution to many problems.

Lol thats Pc,s for you my freind.

Read this and instantly thought of my failing hard drive situation. If you can be bothered take a quick check at the event log for the mornings times. Check on warnings on hd.

had exact same things, thought it was bios at first needed updating but found it was hd on its way out. Disabled it till pay day and new drive to copy all the stuff off.
