w00t, e6300 at 3.4ghz.

My HZ ram arrived today, so out goes the Crucial cheapo ram and in plops the sexy black sticks. ;)

Managed to get my e6300 / DS4 up and running with a 430 FSB. Running Prime for a bit to see if it survives and then I'll crank it up some more.

Would be VERY happy to see this run at 3.2Ghz. :)

EDIT. We have lift off at 3.2 :p

EDIT. EDIT. We now have 3.317 :D

g'wan, keep going :D

Indeed. :)

Little problem I've got at the moment, is whenever I set a new FSB above 480 in the bios, it disables the manual FSB setting and uses the default vaules, bringing me back down to 1.8Ghz.

Hmmmm,

Seems to have hit a wall at 3318 for me at the moment but I think this is bios related, not a problem with CPU / Ram.

If I set my FSB to anything over 475, I just get the PC to restart at the bios startup section.

I'm gonna give it a few more goes to see if I can hit 500fsb. but if no joy, I'll hold at this FSB until a new bios update.

Still, 3.3Ghz! Not too shabby. :)

Spec list.

GSkill 6400 HZ Ram
DS4 board with the beta bios applied. F2b ?? Cant remember atm.

Mch is running at +0.3
FSB is at +0.2

Ok, that bios needs some tinkering by the GigaByte people. It eventually let me start the machine at 480 FSB after the 11th restart. :(

3.36Ghz now. :D

At this speed, SuperPi at 1M is taking 17.625s

Asgard, which bios are you using?

Ahh, that's the one I'm using also.

3.38 Ghz. :D

Managed to get the board to boot at FSB 384, doing some stability tests now to see if it will survive. If so I'll keep trying for a higher FSB. :)

I'm still cooling this by using the stock HeatPipe arrangement and a Zalman 9500AT Cpu cooler, time for me to hook up the Water you think?

To be honest I dont think water is required until going above 1.4 if you have some good air cooling. I just have a 120mm cooling the chipset.

Did you soft overclock or was it just done in the bios.

Superb Overclock m8 :)

All done through the bios.

I'm going to be using my watercooling block on this kit, I'm just tinkering to find the max setting on air. :)

And I've just got it to boot and run XP at 3.4 with a 486 FSB. W00tski! :p

Is it stable at 3.3 ?

Yes. I'm going to test for stability at 3.4 shortly, so may be even better. Considering that I was wishing for a 3.2Ghz o/c and hoping it would reach 3.0Ghz, this really is a fantastic little chip. :)

I'm hoping that Gigabyte can resolve the boot problems in a new bios for the DS4 though, as sometimes, it just takes 11+ resets to boot. :(
