Recently I was hunting for a decent chair, my tatty, fake leather chair from Argos was starting to get rather uncomfortable. I was originally after the Herman Miller Aeron, however it was a little too pricey for my studenty needs.

I ended up buying this chair:

http://www.reclinersdirect.co.uk/restwell_rimini_brnutm.php#;

I've just finished assembling it and quite a few people wanted to know how it would fair out.

My first thoughts are that it's very well built and it's definitely built to last. It's very comfortable and I like how it adjusts to your posture - perfect. The footstool does exactly what you'd expect it to do, however I won't be using it much as I usually rest my foot on the sub!

However there are two problems. Firstly, the height is rather low, about 5-10cm from what I'd call perfect, it's making gaming and typing a little more difficult. Secondly, the lack of wheels . . . I didn't think it would be much of a problem, but boy was I wrong :( However, I managed to get around that, I turn it around, sit in and spin around and do the say to get out :D

All in, I got it for £180 delivered and I think it was definitely worth it, just hope I don't get RSI from using the mouse and keyboard! :o

If you guys are interested in any pictures, let me know and I'll post some later on.

Looks VERY good for a nice relaxing chair in the living room but with the height issues and lack of wheels its perhaps not the best chair for gaming. Still looks cool though.
I've got an idea though, it has small rubber things at the bottom so it doesn't move, I thinking of replacing it with some that raise the height by about 5cm . . result! :D

Very nice :)

You using a wireless keyboard mouse with that? (What have you got the mouse on?).

It does look a bit low... I'd rather it in black if it were me, but that's just personal taste.

How'd you get it for £180 ? Site you linked to is £199... I presume price has just gone up, or you got it from somewhere else?

More pics would be appreciated! I'm in the market for a new chair :p
I've got the Logitech Dinovo and an Icemat V2. I'll some pics after I come back from the gym. I'll also post how I got it for £180 delivered :)

Sorry for the uber late update but I blame this lazy chair!

Over the month, I think my backside now has an adequate understanding of the comfort it has provided.

Due to the lazyness that has been instilled within me, I couldn't be arsed to process the pictures so, I hope screenshots from Lightroom are adequate!

I've now done the following on this chair:

Put up a lightbulb
Fart
Eat
Sleep (for 4 hours)
Play Guitar
Game
Watch Movies
Read books
Have some quality relaxing time

It has excelled in all areas as suspected.

However, my biggest issues with this chair is navigating around in it and the height. I shall address these issues further down. I have carpet in my room and moving this chair is a pain, however I've found hopping with it works for me. The height I've gotten used to but it would be nice to have another 5cm or so.

Luckily I found a pic lying around from last year! Here's the benchmark:

In comparison to the three seater recliners we have downstairs it puts up a fairly decent competition. Bearing in mind those above cost 10 times more! The padding is great and it's in the right areas. It does tend to get warm at times which is understandable. The footstall does what it says on the tin. I'm surprised at the strength of the stool, I've stood on it plenty of times (it's not recommended to do so) and it's been fine for me! The overall build quality of the chair is great, the bolts do tend to come a little loose after a few weeks so it's worth checking on a monthly basis or so.

Here are a few pictures:

Pic from "Show us your desks" thread (I realise it has one duplicate pic, but it wasn't intended for this thread):

Now in order to solve this height and manoeuvrability issue, I had the following idea. However, I need the help of you wonderful DIY'ers!

One of the legs came scratched, so I sent an email to the place I bought it from and the great people from their factory had sent me a brand new leg for free! Great, I can now experiment!

Now, from my old leather chair I have 5 castors and they fit as follows:

As you guys can see there's they're a tad bit too long! Now if I were to saw the metal pieces by 3/4 and then drill a hole in the base, with the castors flat on the base . . . it should work out shouldn't it?

What do you guys think?

I don't think there will be enough strength in the wood to hold those casters. It may work for a month or two but it won't last.

Basically you need to visit your local Black Smith.
That's the last thing I wanted to resort to, surely there must be another way!?

Unfortunatly it was not built to last and the legs kept ripping out of the base (the metal they slide in to is quite weak).

I miss that chair :(
The metal base is hollow, personally I would have put a block of wood in there and used some kind of thread lock!

Can you tell us if this chair tilts backwards on a spring in addition to the recline actions? I.e. can you rock back in the chair whilst not using the recline, like in a bog standard computer chair?
You can't rock on it, it just reclines to your position.

One of the great things about this chair is that when you lean back it adjusts to your weight and it's really great for getting into a comfy position :)

What do you think OP ?
I disagree, it's been great for me so far :)

On Sunday, I spent the day in and I spent about 11 hours sitting in it. Chillax'ed

Any other ideas on this mod?

How much assembly does this need/how big is the box it comes in?

Just want to check it will fit up my stairs, want to order one of these :D
Sorry I never saw this before . . Assembly takes about 20 mins or so, it's not too much. The box is large, I had assembled my chair and then taken it up without the arms!

Wondering this my self, altho I will have an answer soon as mine gets delivered today.

KaHn

Exact same one?

This chair looks good, how dark is the brown leather - its hard to tell from your pictures (ideally I am looking at black leather if possible but this chair only seems to be in brown).

hmm, I am tempted by the following but they dont quite look as comfy and the ~£200 isnt in stock http://www.reclinersdirect.co.uk/altea_swivel_recliner.php
or
http://www.reclinersdirect.co.uk/globe_black.php
but dont really want to pay £400.
It's fairly dark and has a dark chocolate colour.

As for the chair that isn't in stock, google around. There are plenty e-tailers out there that should stock it. I personally wouldn't pay £400 for the chair you linked to.

Since it's been revived...

When you play games do you play on one screen? As other wise wouldn't the cross hair be split in two?

What is that keyboard, seen your pics of it a few times and it looks beautiful :D

Is it comfortable?
I play on one screen, usually have msn/movie/winamp/webpage on the other. I have gamed across two screens, for e-peen +1 looks awesome but it's pointless.

It is indeed a Logitech Dinovo set. The best keyboard combination I've had the pleasure of using. I've now had it for over 4 years and paired up with Logitech's excellent CS, it's amazing.

Tefal, can you drop me a line?

Well I took delivery of the same as the OP's but in black leather about 10 days ago. (they just got it in stock). It is very comfy and has had a lot of use as I am recovering from knee surgery. Very happy for the money

Make sure you check the bolts on a monthly basis!
