Picked up a nice Silver Lian Li PC60 case off ebay for £42 + del. It looked nice for a few weeks then i decided it needed some personalising. I took it on myself to make the trip down to halfords and bagged myself 3 cans of primer, 2 cans of matt black paint and 3 cans of volkswagen mars red paint. And of course some lacquer

After a few different ideas i decided to paint the inside matt black and the outside bright red.

Here is the before pic:

And as i go through the project i will update this thread with pics and any problems i occur.

Right heres the first update!

The first stage was painting the inside part of the case. First was 2 layers of halfords finest grey primer followed up with 2 coats of halfords matt black paint.

Next stage was to paint the rest red. Ill put it up in a few mins when ive got some more pics.

Anyway the red coat!
The first pic looks orange because of the flash on the camera but i put it up to show the general idea im going for.

Shows more the actual colour but red never photographs well.

The parts arent all tidied up yet so just ignore the wiring

Before you say it, the sun shows up that the paint on the top of the case isnt completely even but i still think it looks pretty darn good!

For anyone thats interested here is the spec of that machine:

Pentium D 930 @ 3.6ghz w/big typhoon
1GB Corsair Value DDR2
Abit LG-81 MATX
Nvidia 6600GT
Soundblaster Live
160GB Maxtor SATA

The black on the inside isnt very resistant because i didnt bother with any lacquer to protect it, but the red coat has 2 coats of lacquer over the top so no chips yet :)

Yes lol its not quite finished yet. All the bezels etc are painted and lacquered. I just need to lacquer both side panels then ill get some more pics up.

Ive been rather lazy and am using the case without the panels on :p

The stealth bezel does looks sweet though...

Questions are good... hopefully encourage budding modders. However easy/difficult the mod is. :)

No im going to leave the power buttons silver because they are plastic and would probably looks tacky if i painted them. Plus i think its nice to have a bit of contrast.

I do have some ambers i could put in there, but the case doesnt have a window lol so you wouldnt see them. It kind of defeats the object of painting the inside i know, but i thought what the heck :D

That looks nice. Great colour scheme. Im tempted to try and spray the inside of my v2000b black myself. I had been toying with the idea of having it powdercoated/anodized, but the price is a bit steep.

Yea it does look nice with a window. I always liked the internals of the akasa eclipse because of this. Powder coating and anodising can be expensive.

Powder coat the insides, much more durable in the long term.

How is the paint on the outside holding up compared to the non laquered inside?

This was really just a bit of a project, its just for the secondary pc. The outside panels are fine. The front panel is the best really because it got the most coats of paint :p It looks even as well compared to the top panel. Having said that there are no areas where it has chipped off etc. We'll see how it lasts. Maybe a few more coats of lacquer then some car polish to shine it up :D

I honestly think that you should paint the power buttons black too. The silver clashes with the red too much.
It can be difficult to paint plastic without it looking tacky. I might give it whirl though :)

I may well add another coat to the top to try and even it out for a better finish.

I do like the blue but i previously painted an antec super lanboy in a very similar blue. New thread soon with that!!! lol :D

I think the bezels may look quite nice in a slightly deeper red. What do you think?
Not sure on that, maybe ill take some more recent pics and then photoshop it to see what it would look like.

The top looked like you were a little bit to close on some of your passes with the spray can - try standing back a bit, starting and finishing to either side of the surface (appoliges if you know all this) :D

If your lanboy was blue I can see why you went with the red. Thanks for the reply

Yea, i think i wasnt going off each side of the metal because i was trying to be conservative with the paint. There is nothing in those tins and they arent that cheap!

I thought it would look nicer having some silver left on the inside and the same with the fan grills, i/o plate, pci brackets. Maybe i should have done a mr bean job. Just set fire to the paint can and evacuate the room. :D Have everything red, including the walls
