Hello, I installed some W10 updates yesterday and today after the bios screen, windows didn't load, just black screen.
Well, story time, they give me this old Pc at work (really old) to do one or two office things, it has W7 on a hard drive so everything is very very slow, I also use this Pc for some 3d modeling and programming, so I change the disk to GPT and install W10.
At this point everything still all good, still slow though, so I install a Samsung 1Tb SSD and install W10 on it, suddenly this old Pc is a good machine again but I make a mistake:
I didn't realise when installing W10 on SSD that the boot drive was in HDD, I think this was a mistake but I didn't realise...
And for 1 month it was working really well, yesterday some updates were installed, first one then reboot, downloaded one more, and another reboot, but system still works fine, this morning I arrive and after bios screen, just a black screen nothing else...
Tried with another W10 bootable usb repair or uninstall updates but it doesn't let me do anything, after trying first to reinstall W10 on the HDD alone, I had a message that the installation disk is not good, I'm re downloading windows and using rufus to create the bootable usb I will try again tomorrow.
As I realised the problem about the boot drive, I tried booting without one disk or the other connected:
With only the SSD, bios error no boot drive. When only HDD, windows error missing device.
Is there anything that can be done to repair the OS? I know anyway I need to disconnect the HDD and install W10 in SSD with it's own boot drive, but there is some network info I would need from the OS if needed to reinstall windows, if I use a Linux is there a way to get that info back?
Sorry for so long post, tried to give most information possible.
Thanks a lot!
Erwin.
