Hey all.

My desktop went bang and i have been using a lappy for a few months now where i have installed progs, emails etc...............

Is there an easy way to copy stuff from lappy to new desktop both OS W10?

If the desktop going bang was caused by hdd problems or may have caused damage to hdd (eg you dropped it) - then you will need to be cautious
not to degrade hdd contents further, other than trying to get the contents off as efficiently/quickly as possible.

You will need to get a powered usb caddy of some kind to put the disc from the desktop chassis into, so that you can 'rescue' its contents, and transfer to another
drive eg your laptops. ( maybe you have an hdd for backups you can swap the drive into - personally use an icy box caddy)

There is an older OC thread that referenced some s/w to help http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/best-free-data-recovery-tools-1321723.

or alternatively maybe you local PC shop could help ?

I have recovered the contents from the kaput desktop, my query is i have been using a lapptop and have installed loads of progs, ran outlook etc. Is there a best way of transferring everything over to a new desktop both running W10?

ie from samsung phone to samsung phone you can transfer everything so your new phone is set up like your old one.

Thanx anyway.

(misread original !)

no imhop - i keep copies of the install bundles/zips when i install programs, so that I could transfer them to a new system,
and you then have to individually/laboriously find the config files for the programs and export/copy them to new system. (sharing drives)
Can write a list of MS installed programs to an excel csv file, so that you have a list, and can rigorously re-install the same on new system.
- no silver bullet.
