W550i network problems!

Can anyone help me please? Im really starting to get frustrated with my W550i. Basically, i can't get reception! The only place I do in my whole house is beside the freeview box ( don't know wether this makes a difference) Now its not an issue with regards to a bad area, all other phones, on the orange network get lots of signal, mostly full. Its not just at home either, whenever i go out i hardly get any reception, when other people have full on Orange!!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Go back to the shop/SP of where you got the phone from and say it has got a faulty antenna. They should either swap it out (if you've had it less than 14 days) or offer to send it off for repair.

its a contract phone, where is the ariel in the phone? is it in the little handle bit at the top??

Yes it is, and yes it sounds faulty and not a signal problem.

But other than that how do you like the phone? i've had the w550 for about 2-3 months now, and it's going great.

the phone is ideal, i can only fault it on 2 things..

1. The signal
2. When the phone is in my pocket, sometimes the lock button on the side catches and usually once jt unlocks itself the first button that gets pressed in the walkman one! lol.

I could try usiing the update service from SE maybe?

If it is a faulty antenna, using the SE update service won't help. The antenna is actually inside the phone and like you said, is not picking up the signal. You best bet would be to take it back to the shop
