Problem:
Going from Vista Ultimate x64 to 7 Pro x64 via an upgrade disc (both ligit with valid licence keys).
First time round i tried to do the upgrade install, but there was a power cut
- borking both the old and upgrade installs. So i format the drive (within the 7 install wizard) and run the clean install option. all goes well and its now running nicely.
However i've gone to try and activate windows and it is being rejected as there wasn't a valid vista install present when i did the upgrade (due to the power cut corrupting it).
Is there any other way to activate my upgrade as i have both keys?
I have the vista image backed up so i could revert to that and then rerun the 7 install again, but i'd rather not if i can avoid it! However i fear this is probably the only solution.
Anyone got any ideas?
TIA
