W7 classic mode?

As the title says is there a way like in vista to get Windows 7 Home Premium to run in classic mode. I just hate the way it looks. I much prefer the XP look.
 
Right click taskbar > Properties
Tick 'Use small icons'
Select 'Never combine' under 'Taskbar buttons:'

That's about as close as you're going to get. Try sticking with the new look, as though it might not seem that useful at first it really grows on you.
 
Windows Classic is there as a theme to choose in the Personalization control panel. That's not the 'XP look' though, the default theme in XP was Luna.
 
Yeah, you can set it to "classic" which is similar to XP classic, but with the changes to the task bar it doesn't look right in my opinion.

Hmm you're probably right. So their definition of "Basic" is "XP" and "Aero" is the pretty much the new "Basic" from Vista/W7.
 
Personally the XP theme makes me quite nostalgic, I wouldn't choose it over the new windows 7 look or even vista but it is functional and lightweight on system resources so it can't be all bad.
 
Also a lot of people will be forced to upgrade to Windows 7 when they buy a new PC. An available XP theme will allow people, who dont care so much about the look and would rather have something they know and are used to, to not have to go through the upheaval of getting used to a new windows.
 
How long have you tried the new start bar for? My dads 50 and struggles with computers yet he was getting a long with it from the word go :).
 
How does one enable normal dual pane windows explorer in Windows 7? You know, so folder tree is on the left and files in those folders are on the right. Darn thing looks like mac Finder for one button mouse clickers now.
 
Is there some special internet cool points for people who buy software from 2009 and then make it look like software from 1995?

Do you come on here asking how to get Crysis to look like Doom aswell?

And buy a brand new car and ask them to remove all the mod cons, air bags, leather interior and then square everything off because you preferred how your mid 90's budget car looked?

Windows 7 has a new taskbar and style. If you dont like it, dont buy it?
