Hi,

After installing SP1 I can no longer boot into windows, I get the mentioned error. It says I should insert my installation disc and run a repair... except I dont have my disc :rolleyes:

I got it from the Microsoft Academic Alliance which I am no longer a member of so can't redownload it. Basically, I want to know what my options are?

I looked at buying an upgrade version of windows 7 but i dont know whether that can do a repair? I want to get this sorted today so if it requires me to buy something it has to be a digital distribution.

please help.

what an absolute pain. Spend hours downloading and burning to DVD, stick it in the DVD drive and my machine boots straight into windows :rolleyes:

you did burn the ISO as an image? (and not a data disk with the ISO on it???)

yeah, i burnt the image - what i meant was windows started working again without the disc! I forgot to set boot priority to optical and it just booted straight up, typical!

Have you several hard drives and or external drives? Ive seen this happen when a drive is present during install but subsequently removed
