w7 wmp11 = uber slow - help

kept the title small

basically whenever i'm using wmp11 with windows 7 64 bit i get some major hangtime when i'm browsing the internet ... normally happens for 5- 10 misn of running it .. settles down after that ...

cant seem to turn off updates of wmp which is probably teh cause , but any help or suggestions would beg reat

well yes .. but ive always liked wmp ... i also use itunes for some of the bought songs .. and mediamonkey for the 96/24 tracks i have

I don't understand the attraction of VLC, it's pretty awful.

I thought W7 used WMP12??

Right click on the toolbar, then go to tools>options>library tab & uncheck Retrieve additional info from the internet.

did that .. stil got teh problem .... tbh i get it sometimes when not usign wmp as well .. screen just goes white whiel waiting ... anyone else get this ?

no problems with wmp 12 here
no lag etc

Check your task manager processes tab for anything using up large amounts of resources.

Try disabling the microsoft media sharing service (I forget the exact name, but should be guessable from that lol), I found that ripped the behind out of the processor on occasion.

thought i'd bump this one up again instead of a new post ...i still get the same problems .. and i recently bought nortpn and it gave me a warning that wmp was using 92% of one of my cores ...

things do improve after about 10 mins .. but seems odd i have to wait for everything to sort of "buffer" for lack of a better word

Its not awful anymore. Thye did some work on the UI.

I use it for all my media as its got a simple interface and plays everything.
