W7 Wtf messing with jpegs

Doh, Don please put 'W7' in the title after Wtf if you see this

About half the jpegs I save off the web are unviewable through the normal windows picture viewer. It seems to resize them to 3 pixels high by 4000 in width.

Any ideas what causes this?

Possible Spyware?

A quick Google seems to suggest that the problem is quite unique

I have security essentials all up to date and malwarebytes also. Haven't had spyware or a virus in a long long time.

Only happened when i moved to 7.

Have you tried turning the computer off and on again?

Nope I haven't turned my pc off in weeks

Only In wdinows 7 but some jpegs saved off forums are fine but others go all pancake like and distorted.

Maybe try a different browser and see if it still happens? if it does then create a new profile for whatever browser you're using

Only other thing I could think of that might fix your issue, is: "reinstalling the interwebs"

Might send a mail off to ITServiceDesk @ Teh Internets . com then ask for a reboot

you know, i've been having problems with windows picture viewer on my laptop too - a reinstall (for unrelated reasons) didn't fix it.

what happens is that, while the viewer loads up instantly, it takes AGES to load the picture, and then flipping between pictures also takes ages, it's very choppy and sluggish. overall, VERY annoying.
