Hi guys,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a wireless network adapter within a MS Virtual PC / XP Mode?

I have W7 on my work laptop and share both my wired and wireless NICs with the VM but it sees both of them as wired connections. Both of these connections work OK but I would like to have a wireless NIC in the VM so that I can test wireless settings and various wireless features in XP as well as in W7.

I understand that when I share the W7 wireless it IS EXPECTED to show up as wired within the VM but is there any way around this to install a wireless adapter on the VM? Google doesn't seem to be too useful for this one as none of the results seem relevant.

Hope that all makes sense :)

Thanks,
Paul.

USB Wireless adapter?

I had thought about that as being a USB device it should share OK but I didn't really want to have something extra to remember to carry around and plug in every time I want to do a test from the VM.

I was hoping I could somehow create a wireless adapter on the VM and bridge this through either the wired or wireless NICs on my laptop.

Thanks,
Paul.

To the best of my knowledge XP Mode will only share the wireless connection that the Windows 7 host is connected to. There is no way to create a virtual wireless adaptor in Virtual PC. USB is the best option.
