W8 and stalled updates

Hi,
I have re-installed W8 on my ASUS S200e laptop.
Windows checks for updates,list 131 I believe,I click install,and it just hangs at 0Kb download & 0%

Any advice please ?

Yes,I checked the update history,the updates say failed and cancelled . After an hour or so,windows states Its unable to update or install ?. Thanks

Have you considered installing a fresh image of Windows 8.1 instead? You will need to manually retrieve the product key in the BIOS however to activate it, but it will save you a lot of time from installing updates.

The link is for 8.1.my licence key cannot activate this version ,but thank you. Is is posible to download the updates from another non Microsoft site?

You require a place holder key to enter during the installation process. Then once at desktop you can change key to your 8.0 key and activate.

Edit: Link with keys listed, depending on version you have.

8.0 key will work with 8.1 refresh media ISO.

I can confirm this, the later builds of 8.1 will take my 8.0 key directly.

I tend to find this happens a lot myself. Have a look at the resource monitor and you'll see the network usage is still going strong. Just leave it be and it'll eventually finish.
