W8 fix shell after virus,

removed a virus from a w8 machine now it boots to a blank screen after login, malwarebytes removed some crappy reg keys but its still the same...

combofix.exe always fixed this issue on w7/vista but it does not run on W8...

obviously the virus has changed something on the shell so the gui cannot load and ideas how to fix it? (no system restore available)

I know it sounds a bit of a cop-out but I assume a total reinstall is out of the question too?

could do as a last resort but im sure its only 1 reg key that needs tweaking...

will hold out for a fix for a bit...

also ive not reinstalled an oem w8 before will any w8 disk of the right version do (i read the coa is in the bios)

the key is Shell

just needed to set it back to explorer.exe

i knew it was simple!
