Hiya,

I traded my 6230i for a W800i with someone, as my contract is not due to renew for a while yet.

I am happy with the W800i, although I've been a bit stupid when cleaning the phone...

I just wanted to clean it up a bit, being 2nd hand I didnt know who'd done what with it, so I used some carex wipe things, and unfortunately I overdid it, as the screen clouded up and the keypad did not respond!

This has happened before with my Nokia so I just let it dry, but with the SE it's harder because you cannot remove the casing without the T6 screwdriver, so to dry would take longer.

This was yesterday, about 2pm.

I put it in a heated area, and now the screen is pretty much back to normal, and keypad works, except for the 'c' button, which still does not work.

Also, the * key, the return key, and the left big menu key (next to W key) do not light up like the rest of the keys...

The battery also, does charge , but when taken out of charger goes down to 10% after about 5 minutes of non use!? Then it goes back up, then down, now its @ 13%! (all within about 1 hr of charging! And im not even using the phone!)
I've tried a new battery, same.

I then got a 'low battery' warning, so I turned the phone off, then on again, and its now @ 96% charge?! What is going on!?

Have I messed it up? Or should I just let it dry longer, maybe its still damp inside???

I know I can buy a replacement PCB to fix the LED problem if its needed, but do you think I should wait a few more days for it to dry? Would it take that long to dry out?
Im tempted to just buy another keypad PCB (£15) and fit it when I fit my new housing for it, what do you think? I think its might not be that hard to do from looking at the pictures...?

The firmware is R1002 I think, so that could definately do with updating, is that whats causing the battery issue? Or is it the dampness?

Many thanks for any help in advance!

PS : I know I know I know! I shouldnt have cleaned it like that...

I doubt it would be more than a year old - the cheapest (and probably easiest) way would be trying to get it repaired under warranty, even if it means getting the person you bought off it to take it to the repair shop on your behalf.

Otherwise, I can see it costing a fair bit if you paid for a repair, and DIY repairs are not advisable unless 1. you are happy to invalidate your warranty completely, and 2. you are happy to take the chance spending the cash with no guarantee of actually fixing the phone.
