w810i debranding

Can someone explain what this actually does to your phone. I've read loads about people saying to do it but there's not much mention of what it actually changes.

Can anyone shed any light? my w810i is on orange.

I think it just unlocks it so you can use any sim card in it.

AFAIK, debranding refers to installing firmware on the phone that doesn't include the tons of crap the operators like to install.

The main benefit of it is to speed the phone up, and in some cases, make it more functional.

How easy is it to unbrand a phone then? Is it just a case of flashing the firmware?

Yes thats all there is to it, i did mine via the Da Vinci website and was simple enough but if your uncertain then i would suggest you take it to a mobile phone shop and get them to do it.
Btw doing it via the Da Vinci site will cost £7.
