wait for new mobile graphics chips or not?

Hi all,

a lot of discussion about the new desktop cards but not seen anything on mobile.

I'm looking for a new laptop as we speak, for mid level games as well as general multimedia duty. Is it worth waiting for the new mobile chips?

I would wait to be honest, the next lot of chips on 14 and 16nm should bump the performance up by a nice margin. Especially the polaris parts.

I've heard Polaris (incoming AMD GPU architecture) includes mobile offerings, so might be worth waiting until the end of May (when there's supposedly an AMD press conference) for more information.

probably, I get the feeling the next round of gaming laptops is going to be very good, especially if they manage to incorporate Skylake and HBM2, you could be waiting a while though, unless the laptop uses Polaris AMD chips

with desktop stuff I usually wouldn't recommend waiting for a long time, but laptops are different because they are expensive and people tend to use them for a long time like 5 years + whereas desktops often get reconfigured frequently
