Wait for X770(E) and B750(E) motherboards?

So with the early issues with the X670 and B650 boards around voltages and in some cases Intel network ports is it worth waiting for the new motherboard before going for an AMD build now?
Do we know when they're expected?
Are they likely to be an improvement or is it more likely a case that they solve a couple of issues but introduce a couple new ones? I didn't follow how it went with AM4 stuff.
Are there many new features expected with X770/B750 that might be worth waiting for?

Are X670/B650 just in such a poor state at the minute that it's worth waiting regardless or are they in a decent place now?

Plan would be to put a 7800X3D in and maybe upgrade when/if the 8800X3D chips are released.

I like you was playing the waiting game.

I eventually gave in and bought myself an Asus X670E Hero at a substantial discount & the 7800X3D prices were acceptable during Black Friday period.
I've had zero issues with the board. Not updated to the latest BIOS yet, still on the previous one.

As for waiting on X770/B750, I'm sure they will come with a hefty price tag & I'm not sure what else they would bring. More PCIE-Gen5?

I haven't seen anything about X770/B750, except for rumours of USB4.

You can avoid the Intel LAN, since a lot of boards don't have it and the voltage issues are supposed to be resolved with a bios update.

In some cases, enabling EXPO/XMP can be a nuisance and large capacities (especially 4 sticks) are still a problem, but that's nothing new. I'd expect the DDR5 issues to be resolved over time, as they were with AM4.

I'd wait and see what comes. I suppose it depends on if you need it now for a specific reason but if not, skip all the headaches and buy when things settle :)

I have to disagree with this statement, my Asus B650E Gaming E has been great with my 7800X3D, no issues in my case at all, also you don't know what issues a new chipset or motherboard will have down the road when it is released, the voltage issue was fixed back in April, AMD lowered the max cpu voltage for 7800X3D to 1.3v max, so that problem has gone, far as I know there was only five cases with 7800X3D overclocked with high voltage back then.
My intel NIC has been great but you can always go Realtek etc...
I was in your same boat ie do I wait or not, but the truth is there will always be newer boards/chipsets coming out and I needed a cpu/board right now, at least with AM5 socket you have a CPU upgrade path for awhile. One thing I will say about 650 and 670 series is at least the BIOS has matured quite well now, I know my board has had at least ten BIOS updates.

Side note you can find issues with any chipset or even Realtek if you google search. The fact is you don't know what's good for you until you have it up and running, if I had listened to other members here (with respect) I might of went with a different board, glad I stuck with my decision not to.

Btw I think you have to decide can I afford to wait and take a chance with newer untested hardware with regards to maturity or go with something right now, nobody can decide that for you, your call.

:)

Never wait. Buy now and regret things later if you must! I've spent a lifetime of overthinking and procrastinating to know I should have just bit the bullet and purchased things earlier instead of waiting.

The moment you buy a new pc or component it's basically obsolete :D same with motorbikes, cars, tv's and loads of other things you can think of.

If you look hard enough you will find problems, common faults and issues with all sorts of hardware and sortware, it's a nightmare :D Buy now and don't look back!

X770 and B750 along with Ryzen 9000 wont be here until Q3 of 2024, so you are looking around September / October time, and as someone else says, I think all the extra they bring is more USB 4 ports, which is available now with some boards, so not really worth waiting for.

Ryzen 8000 is coming Q1 of this year, 14 SKU's, but they are all APU's, so thats pretty much AMD's release for the desktop for the beginning of this year, along with a few new AM4 chips, there wont be any 8800X3D, the next just for mainstream Ryzen's will be 9000 series, or so rumour has it.
