Waiting time for an iPhone 4 from Apple.com/uk?

I'm in a bit of an annoying situation

I've got enough cash to buy an iPhone 4 now. I've decided I'm not going to go on contract because i don't want to be raped by poor minutes/texts/internet and spend £35/mo on a phone.

And i go to university on the 19th, so my address will be all over the place for a while.

So I've considered buying one from Apple.com but the Ships: 3 weeks message is worrying me, especially after talking to a few more people when they say its taken up to 9 weeks for theirs to arrive.

I'd ideally like an unlocked iPhone but its not too big of a deal, as i guess i can move over to another network and buy one tomorrow.

But just a question to ask to the people who bought there's direct online, How long did yours take to arrive?

Mine took about a month...ordered july 3rd and received 3rd Aug....you might be better off trying an apple store but i dont think they have many in stock ie first come first serve basis.
 
I was on a waiting list at an apple store, took about 4 weeks before it arrived.

My brother ordered from the apple online store recently and he got his in about 2.5 weeks.
 
I got mine a week ago and it took three weeks to arrive, but to be fair it shipped on the exact date they said it would when I first placed my order.
 
Ordered mine the other week and it's due to ship on 3rd September for delivery on the 7th. I am hoping, obviously pointlessly, that it's shipped earlier.
 
Just an update but another Billy bonus is they actually tried to deliver today but wasn't in and apparently will try again tomorrow. Dobt believe that one though.

highly doubtful...they wont deliver on a weekend...usually its mon-fri.
 
Hello again.
Got my iPhone 4 on Saturday bought it from an O2 store in Middlesbrough (locked of course).

I would have waited and got one unlocked however with me going to university in 3 weeks and the ridiculous waiting time online i splashed out and bought one now.

Is discussion of unlocking allowed here? Just thought i'd ask before i get into a whole heap of trouble :)

Hoping for an earlier delivery might not be pointless as you never can tell...
Ordered mine on August 29. I received a dispatch notification today 4th, for delivery on the 7th of september...
Not bad!;)
 
I got tired of waiting, and hearing of people ordering after me and having them shipped, so I cancelled my order and bought one from an O2 shop.

It turned out to be faulty so I took it to an Apple shop and they replaced it with a new, unlocked, one.

What so any iphone can be taken directly back to apple? Did they ask for your o2 receipt?
 
They didn't ask for the receipt. They connected my phone to an iMac, ran some software, wiped the faulty phone and gave me a new replacement.
