Basically when I wake from S3 sleep in Windows 7 my monitor doesn't switch on/I can't see anything on the screen. I know its booted properly because I can login and Shutdown blind. This is an intermittent problem as sometimes it will work fine and sometimes it won't.

My motherboard is:

BIOSTAR TA780G M2+
Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 3200. ONBOARD GRAPHICS CARD
Monitor connected via DVI cable.

What could be the problem/solution?

what make of monitor do you have ?
slightly different I'm on vista laptop w/ samsung 2270hd as an extended monitor hdmi
and after s3 sometimes monitor does not come back on from standby and need to power cycle monitor.
[monitor standby on samsung implementation is odd since when source is removed - s3
monitor periodically/5mins shows a screen - no cable connnected - cannot inhibit this afain ]

I had an issue similar to this with my monitor, at boot I'd sometimes not get anything on screen but could hear windows load and could login to it blind and even start games. Turned out it was the graphics card, not the monitor that was the problem.

For over a year I'd simply assumed it was the monitor though and power cycled the PC until it'd work!
