Wake on LAN from complete shutdown?

Hi guys, I'm trying to set up WOL for my PC, and I've got it working so that it wakes it from sleep (over LAN or internet), but not from a complete shutdown. Is it possible to do this or is it a case of "well, just sleep your PC from now on"?

I'd be gutted if I was using teamviewer, then shutdown my pc out of habit, and couldn't wake it again. Besides, I would hate to have to have teamviewer running all the time just in case. I'd rather have it run on startup and just close it if not needed.

I believe so, do you have an option in the BIOS along the lines of 'Power ON by PCI devices'? It needs to be enabled if you can find it.

Its easy to set up and a feature of windows so you dont need any software, this guide is the easiest i have found with a 2 min google.

I even wake mine up using my phone.

EDIT: Just to be clear it can be done from shutdown, i never sleep my PC's always found it led to longer hangs then a fresh boot

I did enable that, but it only works from sleep, which I agree is rubbish. Something else on my networks seems to be waking up my pc as well :/

Also, I thought I had it set up for wake over the net, but it seems it only works from inside my network. I'm a bit confused by all the subnet settings etc in the WOL wake on LAN app I downloaded if anyone can demystify them for me!

Okay, I'm still trying to sort the wake from shutdown issue, but there's little point working on that until I can actually wake on WAN first.

So far, I've set up port forwarding to my PC's static IP, as I'm not sure if my sky router (sagem fast 2504n) supports forwarding to broadcast address from outside the network. I've read that my router will eventually flush its ARP cache once I turn off my pc, though, so it doesn't see my desktop to send the packet. I have no idea how to fix this, or whether I even can with this model router. Gah!

I have no idea. How would I do that?

I'm using the rubbish sky router (sagem 2504n) btw.

I have my android phone with a wake on lan app, it can wake my shut down pc.

Then I can teamviewer into it

Port 9 is the internal port for waking

Yeah I've set up port forwarding for port 9, which my app uses) on my router (set to forward to my pc, seeing as I can't forward to a broadcast address).
