Any boffins got a quick guide on how to power up your computer remotley, got a couple of apps installed on to my HTC hero for WOL but dont seem to be having much luck, im running windows 7 and checked that the options were enabled on my motherboards netword card for powering up the PC over LAN...any advice would be appeciated?

The 2 programs on my phone is looking for a MAC address and my IP address and port, i typed in ipconfig/all in the command prompt and got the MAC address for my network card from there and my IP...after i had no luck with that i even tried the mac address on my router whch i'm guessing isnt the one im needing?

Besides the BIOS you need to enable "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" under the Power Management Properties of the NIC in the OS. If poss get tested on wired before trying to send WoL over wifi (see similar thread with someone having issues).

Got everythig that you've mentioned checked so far, so just to confirm, i should be using the MAC adress of my computers Network card, not the wireless routers MAC?

Just re-read your OP. Are you trying to send the Wake from the phone when inside your LAN over wifi, or over the internet from anywhere?

I haven't found a router that wouldn't forward WOL, but to get WOL working reliably between subnets you need to bounce it off the router -
Using the router to broadcast the WOL announcement to the subnet.
