I've just seen the Wal-Mart documentary, The High Cost of Low Price.

I find it truely incredible that a company of its size gets away with so much scandal. The amount of bribary and discusting work environments, particularly those in china, rally annoys me simply because they are getting away with it.

Has anyone else seen this? What are your views?

I have not seen the documentary but am well aware of Wal-Marts business model and ethics within business, which are almost none. They are a key point of study on many Business degree programmes at the moment simply because they have the most fantastic way of conducting themselves.

Personally, I think the way they almost bully organisations into providing products at almost no profit margin is questionable, especially in developing country's. One could argue however, is that if they didn't do it, someone else would. What is staggering to me is that Wal-Mart has a turnover of something like £100 billion a year, compare that with Tesco's of around £10 billion...and you realise just how big they are.

I didn't go into a Wal-Mart when I was in the US, however it is a sad ambition of mine to visit one at some point in my life.

I find it funny how the original family owners get about $10 billion each per year, and donated amongst themselves $6,000 to the stores emergency fund (to help employees in times of need) and the employees themselves donated around $500 million even though there pay is insanely low, barely livable.
