I'm fortunate enough to have a 15 minute walk to work through a nature reserve that is teaming with wildlife, here are a few of the photos form the last months. As I speak there is a bald eagle on perched on the teees outside my window, but my camera is at home.
All taken with a Nikon 300mm f/4.0 and 1.4xTC on A D90.

Herons are everywhere here, I have lots of reasonable photos but I have a few with very nice evening light:

This one the light had gone so it is quite noisy, bu I managed to get less than 2m away:

This blue jay drives my cat crazy:

I live a mere 250 yards from an Osprey nest but these birds cover large distances so are not always easy to find. This one flew straight over head I was nearing my front door:

They normally perch facing the river or pond so without getting wet they aren't easy to get face-on shots:

Bald Eagles are rarer and tend to only stay in the area for 10-15 minutes every few days, but are truly magnificent

One reason they keep away is the Ospreys and Bald eagles fight a lot, as witnessed below. Another surprise encounter when walking in the nearby park I heard some screeches looked up and managed to grab this

Shallow DoF has killed the photo :-(. Was filming a Nutria in the shade and had the aperture wide open when these guys flew over head, I had to manually focus the birds at high speed and managed to nail the focus on the osprey but didn't have time to realize the Dof was too shallow.

The bald eagles have been known to swoop down and take the baby goslings:

But the NW pond turtles just hide in their shells:

I have some shots of an otter, nutria, kingfisher, vultures, goshawk, but are a little distant. I am told there are beaver usually, I have seen roe deer and bull snakes, and lots of birds I have no idea about. I plan to spend some summer evenings at colleagues house who has wild turkeys and barn owls on his property.

Brilliant shots, your lucky with your place of work. I find the best way to get wildlife shots is to spend time working out there habits, but I've yet to find a place as rich as your local area. N1

Fantastic collection of shots. It must be a brilliant way of starting/ending your working day! I'd love to get more into wildlife photography but I wouldn't have a clue where to go!

Nice pics but the colour looks way over the top to me.

Maybe it's my monitor?

Actually think it is my screen. My 'greens' have all of a sudden becomes a bit dodgy!

Can someone confirm whether the greens in the OP's photos look over-saturated or not?

Only using an ipad but the colours look ok on that.

To the OP, great shots and a wonderful walk to work! I assume not in the Uk though?

It is very nice to start and end your day with such an abundance of wildlife, can really lighten your mood after a dull day.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing your otter pics

The otters are very shy and only really come out just after the sun has set, at least that is the only time I see them. Thus so far they have all been at ISO 3200 and very distant, which on a D90 is fairly useless. What are more friendly are the Nutria, which are like a south American beaver, they aren't native but a very nice animals. However, they seem to know when i carry my camera with me, i have lots of photos on my cellphone but hardly anything from my DSLR.

In response to the other thread I am Bumping this so people can provide critique if they wish.

Only the top photo of the heron is what passes my internal critique. The rest is what I see on the way walking to work. The lighting is poor, I walk to work at 8am, not sunrise in the summer...

And TBH, since I took these photos I have not managed to many more that I have had time to process.

No.1 has probably come out best.
No.3 is ok, but light is a little to hard/harsh.
No.6 I Like the bald eagle, would prefer it to be a bit wider angle, with possibly a close up to go with it.
The last one, I see a great shot of the tortoise on the right, if you were able to zoom in more it would have been great, and with different processing. Of course when your walking to work, you don't have much time to work the shot.

as Is aid, when I walk to work it is at 8am regardless of the sun's position, hence most of the time the light is relatively flat.
For the bald eagle in 6, I probably have a wider version as this is likely a crop, but I wont have a useable closer crop - 630mm is just not enough even when they fly really close.

The tortoise one was shot with the 300mm + 1.4xTC on a crop body and I could not get any closer (there is a fence which you are not allowed to cross to protect the wildlife). I need a bigger lens....
