We need to decorate our nursery. I don't really want to wallpaper and I think painting a single colour might be a bit boring so am looking for ways to make it a bit more interesting.

I've seen some stickers/decals that you can get (something like this), but I've got no idea what they'd actually look like. I'd be worried that the edge of the stickers would peel off or take half the wall away when you eventually try to remove them, or just look a bit naff in general. Anyone ever used/seen these before and have any opinions?

Of course we could try and paint something similar ourselves, but that's guaranteed to look terrible!

Got a few up in my daughters room. She loves them and they havent peeled at all, we put them up originally as its a new build and we werent aloud to paint the walls for a year but weve just left it as is!

Just dont get carried away and start putting up chavvy quotes etc around the rest of the house.

We have some, one thing I would say is that they do not stick well on silk paint, which is a shame, as that's the logical finish to use in a kid's room where you want to be able to easily wipe off the inevitable crayon/chocolate/baby poo :p

Also the ones we got were a lot more translucent than in the pictures, meaning where they overlap, you can see the sticker underneath

For a newborn I'd leave it plain and simple it's a more relaxing calming environment for sleep which is what your child will likely be doing in it for the first few years. Then when they are a bit older you can decorate it together when they know what they want. Also saves the cost of decorating twice!

When I worked at BT they would have entire walls covered in the most awesome murals I have ever seen. They changed every fortnight and were based on new release films. The Iron Man one they had was particularly awesome. When I asked the guy how much they cost, he simply laughed and said they only pay for it for tax purposes.

£15k each, apparently. I'll see if I can dig out a photo somewhere, they really were something.

We used photowall.co.uk for my sons cars mural. Picture of lightening McQueen and Mater. It comes on wallpaper and isn't cheap but it's absolutely amazing quality. Really really impressed. 2 years it's been up and it still looks like new.

that doesn't make any sense, whether or not you get taxed less when purchasing something you're still having to spend/waste money... it is still costing you more than if you'd not purchased that thing

people sometimes make this sort of statement with regards to things like charity donations and some vague claim re: it being 'for tax purposes' which makes very little sense

Yeah I'm not clued up enough on corporate tax to comment on that, I just remember him saying it.

fair enough, thing is the bloke whose job it is to put stickers on a wall probably isn't particularly clued up either and could well be repeating what he's heard also even though it makes no sense :)

I got this tree from the rainforest. Great quality, easy to put up, no peeling at all so far and been up since late 2015. One wall painted grey, rest white and little pink highlights around the room for our first child born in 2015.

We've got some smaller dinosaur ones from JoJo Maman Bebe but I'm sure the principle is the same.

The height chart one was the pain in the arse to get straight and at the right height. It was definitely a two person job. However, there's absolutely no chance of them coming off now without heating them up with a hairdryer.
