Quick question...

I want to hang a canvas (perhaps a 3 feet wide) on my bedroom wall but it is quite a thin wall and obviously put up quite cheaply to separate all the rooms.

I can hear a hollow sound when i tap it so i don't want to bang a nail in and somehow cut through it as i have no idea where the supports are for it.

If it makes any difference, the wall is around a foot thick.

Any advice or tips?

Use rawplugs designed for plasterboard walls. Job done.

or just figure out where the timber studs are and fire your nails into that. The wood will be more stable than plasterboard ;)

Can you elaborate? :o

go to B&Q get some rawlplugs complete with drill bit

come back drill hole in wall

insert rawlplug, tap in with hammer

insert screw and screw in.

or use these guys

note: i know we cant hotlink to competitor websites, but this isnt and i asume its ok, if not please delete and hang me but please let my kids live

Do you literally mean the same thickness as your foot? :p

I've used these to put up bookshelves, still solid years later.

go to homebase. buy nails for plasterboard. half tap nail(s) into wall. hang canvas on protuding nail(s).

Did it on Saturday. Works fine.

I have a 130x90cm canvas on my bedroom wall and that's just on two, two pinned, picture hooks into the plasterboard. It's just not that heavy really and it's only on two hooks for stability.

I've used fancier fixings for things like shelves but pictures/canvases etc haven't needed more than normal pinned hooks.

Those plasterboard plugs are great!

Don't even need to drill really, can screw them straight into the plasterboard with a big cross head screwdriver and they're so solid!

What the.... I don't even..... arghhhhhhhhh
