Anyone got a wallpaper change that can work over a dual monitor setup ?

My setup is a 19" and a 24" so different res's on each, when I use some of the wallpaper changes I've found it just seems to want to put the same image on both screens. I'm just wanting it to change the wallpaper on the 24" screen and leave the 19" as it is.

Any of you guys with dual monitor setups use a wallpaper changer so it rotates the paper each day ?

to make things a little clearer, i've got one folder with say 1280x1024 wallpapers and another folder with only 1900x1200 wallpapers. So i need to app that can select from the correct folder for the right monitor.

See HERE

Mine supports up to 6 monitors (It could be unlimited but I hard limited it :p)

And yes it does exactly what you want, the program sorts the widescreen wallpapers out from the stand resolution ones and will only use the right one for the right screen, just make sure "Match Screen Ratio" is checked in the options tab.

WOW - good effort

nice it's nearly doing what I want.

I've now got 1 folder which has a mixture of 1280x1024 and 1920x1200 pictures, the app seems to be able to pick out all the 1920x1200 pictures ok and it's displaying them on the screen, HOWEVER it seems to be picking out the 1280x1024 wallpapers as you can see what wallpaper it's picked in the status screen, BUT the wallpaper for the 1280x1024 isn't showing on the screen  , it's just a white screen all the time.

Any ideas ?

Just had another little play and if I turn off the Dual monitor mode it then displays the wallpapers ok on the 1280x1024 screen, just seems to be a problem getting it to do both screens at the same time. :(

Hmm thats odd, I'm sorry to hear that.

Can you post me your monitor setup, i.e. which is the primary monitor and where are they placed on the window display properties, i.e. side by side/on top.

Since I don't have a widescreen monitor or an test team for that matter the feature hasn't been extensively tested, but ill try look into it for you.

Monitors:
19" Hitachi - 1280 x 1024 - Registered as Monitor 1
24" Dell 1920 x 1200 - Registered as Monitor 2

setup is side by side with Monitor 1 on the left and Monitor 2 on the right.

At the moment it's Monitor 1 on the left thats just displaying the white screen.

Hope it helps

Which monitor is set as primary? I just found a problem (while trying to reproduce yours) if monitor 2 is set as primary (with the start menu etc still on monitor 1) it doesnt set the monitor 1 wallpaper properly, which sounds like the problem your having.

In any case i will try to fix that when i get home from work and it should fix your problem aswell.

yep 2's set as primary but the start menu etc is on 2 as well, thanks mate for the help, think if you manage to crack that problem you've got a top app there, never seen another one that does what it does.

You have no idea what a headache you have caused for having that strange monitor setup :p.

The problem is (If you regard your desktop as having a coordinates system) my app presumes that monitor 1 is always at 0,0 (top left corner) but by setting monitor 2 as the primary monitor windows sets monitor 2 as being 0,0. I can kinda fix it easy but the problem is with the fix i can do it might bugger up the system for setups with more then 2 monitors.

So a proper fix is gonna take a bit longer as of now im not sure how I'm gonna fix it, but ill try think of something :( .

lol sorry mate, you could always just send me a custom version of the app then go with your original plan for the proper version if thats any easier :)

Ah ha! Fixed it! The solution was so simple I don't know why I didn't code it like that in the first place.

Anyway the pages on my site have seemed to have died so heres a direct link:

Wallpaper Manager V2.0.81

quality mate, works perfect now

Keep us all informed on any updates mate as it's a decent app to have

thanks again

just found a little bug in it, i've got the app started and added a directory and told it to get all the papers in there. Now i've gone into my computer and deleted the wallpaper, gone back into the app and selected the wallpaper I just removed, it came up with an error telling me the wallpaper couldn't be found then just shutdown the app totally.

I've never actually tested that, thanks I'll add it to the list. Fancy being being my offical tester? :p

lol can do, just keep sending me the betas and i'll give am a test run and send you any problems/things that need altering etc

I was just kidding, but anyway if you find anymore bugs send them to the email address in the about screen of the program so we arent cluttering up this thread with bug reports.

Can I be a bit annoying and ask if you could perhaps have a go at making it vista compatable? :o It doesnt work on vista at the moment and is an excellent program.

Could you tell me in what way it isn't compatible? Doesn't install? Doesn't run at all? Doesn't change the wallpaper when you press the button?

In any case it may take a while since firstly I don't even have a copy of vista running at the moment, and secondly I don't even know if vista handles wallpapers like xp, but I will look into it.

Thanks for informing me.

It installs fine but when I go to start it up it comes up with this:

Untitled-1.jpg

Thanks for having a look into it. :)

Could you tell me if these 3 files are on your vista install?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\comctl32.ocx
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tabctl32.ocx
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX

They are components used by the program, if you can't find them then I'm guessing the vb6 runtime isn't installed with vista. If they are then I need to find out if they are already on vista or were installed with my installer. I'm not sure if its the latter as I'm not totally clued up on how the installer works as its all built automatically, but if it is then they are not being installed properly.
