Just resizing that image would be very difficult to do while maintaining quality, and on top of that, I'm afraid you can't have animated GIFs as a background (only the first frame is shown).
no you can have animated .gifs in the background .. as a wallpaper it does work... 
if you looked i dont want this image resizing i just want the same type of theme but to make the overall image a 1280x1024
