Im looking to upgrade my 'arthritic' system with the following

CoolerMaster Stacker 832 - Black Trim (No PSU) £119.99
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.67GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £177.99
BFG nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £139.99
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66R-00838) £109.99
BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £449.99
Enermax Galaxy 1000W EGA1000EWL ATX2.2 Modular PSU £199.99
Western Digital WDSC50RCW Secure Connect Serial ATA Cable £5.99
Western Digital Raptor X 150GB WD1500AHFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM £128.99
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK) £149.99
Pioneer DVR-112DBK 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM £16.99

(straight from the dream basket of overclockers)

my idea was to get this put hard drive in raid 0 with my current raptor x (which still needs to be rma'd) and maby a few months later get me another 8800 ultra.
Budget wise dont want to go too far over £2000 and to be honest I havent done much research just kinda of picked out would I thought would work together.

Initial thoughts:

Go for the E6600 over the E6700
Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680 for the mobo

Also, I don't think the Ultra is anywhere near worth the extra £115 (?) that you'll be paying for it. I'd look at the EVGA or BFG pre-overclocked GTXs instead... Or just a vanilla GTX and overclock it.

Dump the PSU it is a bit overkill 600w will do

ala Corsair 620w

What about a normal HDD? Your bound to run out of storage space with puny space those Raptors provide try looking into the 7200.10 and AAKS series of drives.

Oh and Vista Ultimate is not needed, just get Home Premium

If you've got that kind of budget, get the BFG overclocked GTX instead of the Ultra, use the savings to upgrade to a quad core (say a Q6600 or similar), and change the motherboard to an Asus P5K Deluxe WI-FI or other P35 chipset board.

I have an external 500gb hdd for storage so that doesnt bother me, what about quad is it worth it now or hold off buying anthing till august or later I am a patient person and the budget may even expand

evga have the best aftercare and now have lifetime warranties

also evga are the only companie to rework their 680i boards to overclock quad cores properly

I actually wouldnt go for the p5n32-e slit asus board, im pretty sure it has some serious problems with 4gb of memory...i may be wrong evga 680i sli mobo is the best for that chipset ive heard.

this man speaks the truth

might go with the asus for the motherboard cos of recomendation and also that a lot of ppl saying the eVGA get really hot, on top of that having to flash the bios would be un-known territory for me

they use the same chipset so i cant see running temps being that differerent had no trouble with mine and its been running an e6300 at 3.15 since november

if you get the a1 board you wont need to flash bios as it was only early ones that had problems

P35 motherboards coming out soon would it be wise to hold off on purchase till these are out and buy then (I know some are out already like the Asus) or wait till theyve been fleshed out and not need to much fixing from the get go??

If I do buy nowish heres what I have changed my spec too
