So I recently moved and now do 25 miles a day commute. 20 of those miles are on an A road.

It's been 2 weeks and i'm already sick of screaming along at 7K RPM. I'm tempted to change sprocket size to bring that down, but it'll most likely just ruin the bike's performance (GSX650F).

My question to you is: How many RPMs are you doing in top gear at 85mph?..... on the autobahn obviously, officer.

I will check how much I can get for my bike and see if I can p/x for something around the £4k mark that's 1L and nicer to commute and tour on.

buy my zx10r for £3200 :p I need it out of the way

you only hit 4k at 85mph,

Would probably be a bit OTT for commuting and touring :p

Condition, mileage, age, pics?

As a commuting bike they're high on my list - shaft drive, loads of power and torque, yet 50mpg and a 200 mile tank range. Beemers can take a winter beating too.

I'd try and get one from a dealer with a years warranty though.

Indeed!

I would part-ex my bike and cover the difference with a dealer and expect some warranty. Private would be a pain for me selling i think.

I'm going to test ride a V-Strom 650/1000 see if I'm liking the v-twin better (obviously 1000 would be better here, but they dont have on in for testing at the moment). Also going to test the 1250 version of the my bike which is about 4500rpm @ 85mph.... 7000rpm is 130mph :p

The new one or the old one? The old one's weren't brilliant, the new one however is pretty damn good. Bucketloads of torque, and 70mph was 4k rpm.

New one :) would be more interested in the 1000 i think, but brand new, i think they're asking too much when you compare with KTM and BMW.
