So as the titles says I want a new card to replace my r9 380x.
I only play 1080 and I mostly play older games with the exception of doom eternal.
I would like to play games on as high a setting as possible.
Hunting around the internet has thrown up these prices.
rx580 £160
rx590 £180
rx5500 £180
rx 5600xt £270

I suppose my question is go for the 5600xt or one of the cheaper similarly priced cards.
If it's to be a cheaper card which one? I think the 5500 is the newest of the three cheaper cards.

Thanks.

The 5500 is roughly equivalent to the 580, but 580 power consumption is a fair bit higher.

None of those except the 5600 XT are a worthwhile upgrade really, but the 5600 XT is not an upgrade I'd want to pay £270 for.

Wait until the new ones come out if you can.

the only semi safe buys are imo a 2060 super or 5700 xt longevity wise, but still a bad buy right now at current prices

The 5600xt isn't all that it's not that much faster than a 580 maybe 10-20 fps faster game dependent and £250 or less is the price you should be buying at I saw them for £248 a week back

I too am sat on money waiting to buy a gpu

Yeah 250 on OC last week.

Got myself a clearance card from overclockers at the start of this week. Replaced my 580. I'll look at maybe getting a new gen card in March.

I caved and picked up a bstock asus rtx 2060 super 8gb dual evo v2 oc edition for £306, i'll take that as long is as good as new and no issues.
