I now have a 32" LCD in the living room and want a nice sff pc to sit next to the TV so I can browse the net do the PC stuff in the living room.

I would like a virtually silent product I want to play games but silence is more important. Does such a thing exist? Or will I always be faced with CPU/PSU/GPU fan noise?

I've never dabbled in SFF before so need some help with initial choices.

Cheers,

J

the budget would be around 450-500 VAT INCL.

yea you go silent but its at a cost. what kind of case are you looking for?

desktop or some like a shuttle style case?

some think like a

SilverStone 'SUGO' Evolution SG01

SilverStone 'SUGO' Evolution SG02

go for a passive cooled gfx. like a
ATI HD 2600 Series
ATI HD 2400 Series
NVIDIA 8600 Series
NVIDIA 8500 Series

and to cool the cpu, i would use a Silverstone NT06 Lite.

as for the cpu you could go with any AMD or Intel as long as you get a 2.0gb + dual core
you will be fine.

for a good Psu i would go for a Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular. its a must have for any sff build

yeah that looks the business a nice black one but really I want it as quiet as possible.

I'll have a look also at passive cards.

I have an antec tower at the moment but it is as noisey as a JCB (mainly CPU and GPU fans.

What board would you recommend for it?

yea it all depends on what you gonna put in the case that effects the noise

if your going AMD Abit AN-M2 or if your going Intel Asus P5K-VM or Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R
all 3 boards are good

as for ram any of the 800mhz + ddr2 will be fine

Silver Stone do some nice desktop based pcs as well if you want to go that way
pricey but good quality
