Want A Samsung 2232 - but will my system suffer too much?

I'm desperate for a new monitor and I've got my eye on the Samsung Pebble 2232. But will I have trouble getting high enough FPS in games with my existing hardware at the increased resolution?

I don't play any of the newest games, and don't really intend to for a while. What I do play lots of is the GTA games, Morrowind, Oblivion and occasionally Neverwinter nights. It'll be at least 6 months if not 12 before I can upgrade my machine.

I have a faulty motherboard which keeps losing my manual overclocking settings (and memory timings), so I'm pretty much limited to stock speed on my single core 3700. If it weren't for being on Socket 939 I'd consider a CPU upgrade, but I can't afford a new mobo and RAM as well (even though 2GB is only about £45).

My graphics card is already overclocked quite well, and stable.

So my question is, should I hold off on a new monitor until I can afford to do the PC as well? Or is it relatively 'safe' to go ahead?
