Currently running i5-750 with p55 mobo. Have a new ssd (Samsung 830), and i want to utilise it to its maximum hence need a native sata 3 board. So looking for a new cpu and board that will have this.
Now the pc is used for general day-to-day stuff along with some video editing and photo manipulation - but no gaming at all! I was looking at going with 2500k and ASUS P8Z77-V LE mobo, but i think i may be going overkill for what i need it for? So i started looking into AMD chips (8 cores)and they are a lot cheaper and so are the motherboards? And are the next chips from AMD gonna be AM3+ (i know intel going 1150 so not futureproof)
Budget is whatever it needs to be, but why pay extra £80+ for something i wont need?? (cheaper the better does help as can spend it on other bits

Any advice on a good combo please??
ps - i know the i5-750 is a good chip and it does what i need a pc for fine, however the native sata3 doesnt work for me so i simply want a new combo)
