will this work in principal or is their certain items that dont play well together.

im on a tight budget of around 1000 but hoping doing it this way will allow me a better spec..

hoping for a large tower case corsair 780t or similar
full atx or eatx motherboard .. MSI meg x570 godlike or similar
amd ryzen 7 5800x or better
corsair memory 3200
brand new gold 800x power supply
and new drives as mine are dying

havent built a system for a few years

hoping with the Am5 arrival their should be agood supply

Your post is a little confusing. What parts do you already have ? If you are wanting to stick to a certain budget then the MSI Godlike is not a sensible choice.

Echoing Haz - budget build + MSI Godlike don't go together... That's almost half your budget gone on a board for no reason. I don't believe the Godlike has anything that cheaper boards don't which make it worth anywhere near the uplift.

Potential AM4 problems with second hand parts:

Zen 3 (5000) needs a supported BIOS for X570 and B550 motherboards.
Zen 3 and Zen 2 (3000) needs a supported BIOS for B450 (especially non-MAX or not V2) motherboards.

The bios flashback feature (if present, not all boards have it) may work without a supported CPU.

Memory compatibility on early boards can be problematic.

Zen 2 and 3 can be unstable on some boards, with early BIOS revisions.

yes .. sorry i want to stick to a budget hence using secondhand parts locally..

that board has come up for sale locally secondhand for under 200 quid and the case locally at around 80 quid and I do like the corsair 780t

so was thinking i would start there and acquire the other bits going forward hopefully locally for the used parts but cpu and memory is way easier to post

thanks

thanks also for the info about Zen 3. i guess that is Zen three cpus. im thinking x570 boards depending what i can acquire locally

also i had been reading about ram but i guess that will be a question once motherboard and cpu is acquired

thanks all

With raptorlake release a couple of days away you could get a 13600k + Z690 +DDR4 system for under 1k, you'll get far superior ST performance while also getting MT performance close to a stock 5950X.
