evening all! (or rather morning)

for a few years now ive been really enjoying pc gaming but ive come into this hobby on the back of two pre built systems as I currently lack the knowledge of how to put a PC together from the bare components which ive learned in time is no way to go about things.

the thing is i can identify all the parts of my PC (where and what the MOBO is does PSU specs and so on) and ive even upgraded some parts of my prebuilt models although in each case thats only been replacing the GPU which i think is probably the easiest of all parts to replace.

the time has come again when i would love to upgrade my system my 4 gigs of ram and I5 2k is showing its age now on certain games (BF4 Stalker lost alpha) and i would dearly love to be able to just remove my mobo put in a new one to accommodate a brand new cpu and maybe 8 gigs of ram and carry on with my existing GPU (gtx 670) hard drive and PSU. but unfortunately i cant :| and ideally if i could pick between either a prebuilt or custom built id go for custom every time but some of the things i hear (like programming ram voltage timings) and the process of overclocking just intimidates me as im aware that if you mess around with these or just dont know how to set your PC up properly you can waste a lot of cash on something you just cant get working right!

thanks if you stuck with me this long so my question really is how can i accumulate the knowledge needed to build a pc from scratch? i see people on youtube younger then me doing it no problem but for some reason i just cant take the leap! any advice for a would be builder? :D many thanks in advance.
