At the moment im using a mATX case, and I recon I could build myself a case which is smaller, and better looking.

The hardware I have is a mATX motherboard, stock HSF, CD-RW, at the moment it houses a single IDE HDD but will be adding another 2x HDD's and obviously a PSU.

Iv never really built myself a case before so was going to go down the route of finding something to use as a case, then modifying it, I was thinking of something like one of them silver cases, something like this:

What do you think? or do you think it will look too tacky?

I think that'll look exceptionally ghetto in a case like that.

I would say the most useful you can salvage from an actual case would be the motherboard tray, that'll save you some problems, then play around with what that will fit into while leaving you room for drives etc. Given what I've seen done with mini-itx setups (there's a very good site with mini itx case mods but they have a shop so I won't link) I think it'll take up more space than you expect...
