Howdy,

I currently have this spec:

  • ASUS P5N-E SLi 650 Socket 775 Mobo
  • Core 2 Duo E6600
  • Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler
  • Noctua NC-U6 Northbridge Cooler
  • 4GB GeIL PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 RAM (4x1GB)
  • BFG GeForce 8800GTX OC 768MB
  • Creative x-fi Xtreme Gamer Soundcard
  • 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II HDDs
  • Corsair HX 620W ATX 2.2 PSU
  • Pioneer DVR-112DBK DVD RW
  • Sony 3.5 Floppy Drive
  • Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

I want to list EVERYTHING in my case, so you know the full spec for my questions below!

Now my current Asus board has driven me up the wall too much recently, and I want to get rid. The main reason is to help get at least 800mhz (stock) out of my 4GB RAM, as this mobo is so buggy that I have to run it at 630mhz, any higher and the PC wont boot, and getting the DDR voltage up higher, I get BSODs.

What mobo would you recommend replacing it with that WILL support all my current hardware, cos I don't plan on upgrading that yet! I only have a few requirements:

1. 680i chipset this time... incase I want to go SLi
2. MUST support quad core Intel CPUs for future upgrades
3. NOT an ASUS board, to many probs with ASUS boards and I should have learnt my lesson last time!
4. I have overclocked my CPU, so it has to allow overclocking to a degree, would like to get to 3.4GHz on my E6600 again... but if not it dont matter too much.
5. My main requirement is that is reliable and won't cause me TOO much grief?

I've had my eye on the BFG nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-001-BG) for a while now and am a fan of BFG, as I have never had any probs with their GeForce's... and I've had a few! What you reckon on that one? Or would you suggest a better board?

Not to fussed how much it costs... but dont want to pay more than £200 if poss!

Any help will be appreciated!

ta

Steve M

the BFG 680i has a hard time clocking quads, the evga board A1 (D00) revision is better.

Although I run a P35 board now im annoyed the the new x38/48 boards dont support SLI, but I've had a 680i before so Im going to wait until Nvidia bring a new chipset out and see how it fares with the competition.
