I'm down to one PC mainly due to space and because my trusty 3 year old PC died a while ago.

I'm using my media PC for everything now and tbh it does a good job until it comes to games.

I want to keep it silent but need to boost performance. Its a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ CPU on an ASUS 780G HTPC Board with 4GB RAM.

Is there a graphics card that a) is silent b)good enough to game with and c) wont blow the Antec Fusion PSU?

Other option is to save an buy a half decent gaming rig but I dont really have the space as I'd like to keep my spare room as that and not a computer room as it has been for the past 3 years.

Help guys.

It depends what res you play at really, what sort of games you want to play and with how good a detail.

I would go with something like the ATi HD 4650 as its passive and doesn't seem to require an extra power connection (atleast I cant see one).

On second thoughts, you might wanna get the 4670 rather than the 4650, but you lose the passive feature of the 4650.

My TFT is a 22" 1680X1050 so that would be the max res. I'd be OK with gaming at a lesser res as long as it didnt compromise the graphics too much.

Games would be BF2, CS:S, EVE and some of the newer titles like Crisis (I know its would be a bit of a stretch)

What sort of price are you willing to spend and what is the PSU that came with your fusion? Antec 380w?

if its a 380wt psu you will have to upgrade it. Might be wo=rth looking on mm for a cheap gfx card like a 8800gt

I am not knocking what your saying, but a 8800GT is a very hot card (I have one), it will add a lot of heat to a small case, and the fans on them can be quite loud.

Obviously depending on the rails, I would think a antec 380w PSU would be fine even for a 8800GT, as I doubt his current setup is pulling more than 120w max. *edit - fixed grammar.

I'd go upto £150 for a card. I've got a Corsair HX 620 in the old PC so could use that. My main concern is how noisy it's going to be as the media PC is on 24/7 in the front room. Currently its almost silent.

My Antec Fusion Black came with a 420w psu and it runs all my hardware no problem, i'm running the Gainward HD4850 with the dual slot cooler but this may be a little loud for you.

I don't find it any louder than my Sky HD box if that gives you an idea of noise.
